D+S Critiques the Populist

The D+S Restaurant Review Crew, from Souders Studios food and beverage photography team, went to the Populist in April.  The Populist is at is at 3163 Larimer Street, Denver, CO  80205 in the RiNO neighborhood.

Ambiance – It is a street-side charming small American eatery with a fun open patio for Summer dining.  The inside has community tables and has a laid back vibe. It is open Tuesday through Saturday.

Sound:  Moderate noise level at times but very manageable and friendly.

Must Try Eats: The dishes on their menu are all shareable which is an important principle of this eatery.  There are a lot of wonderful dining options in the New American style.  The most cost effective and fun menu item is the every changing “tasting menu.”  It is a seven course sharable meal including dessert.  The plates are creative and the flavors on your palette are delectable.  The menu is super creative.  You can share, which is recommended, or if that isn’t your style, order your own entrees.

Must Try Sips:  Our favorite was the Populist’s twist on an Old Fashioned with white bourbon and a hint of almond.  The bartenders have an option where you can challenge them to make something that fits your taste palette.

Service:  Service was excellent and the wait staff was incredible knowledgeable.  The place gave you an inward smile.

Noteworthy Quirks:  Walk in on a Tuesday and you’ll surely get seated.

Chefs Owners: Jonathan Power, Noah Price and Cliff White.
